What is a Certified Athletic Trainer?

An athletic trainer (AT) is a certified and licensed health care professional who practices in the field of sports medicine. They specialize in the management, prevention, and recovery of injured athletes. They provide comprehensive preventive services, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning.

The Action Health Platform has been developed by ATs and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists to provide comprehensive individualized exercise programs to treat and prevent injuries, increase fitness and health, and improve physical performance.

“Athletic trainers are sometimes confused with personal trainers. There is, however, a large difference in the education, skillset, job duties and patients of an athletic trainer and a personal trainer.”
